Dear Guys, I am totally green at this so please bear with me. Quite some time back I had my car painted and new fenders put on. One of the fenders never looked quite straight to me. Since then I have had minor mishaps involving a touch against a lamp post and my mechanic not getting my hood back on quite straight. So I was thinking maybe I would take the whole darn front, I guess it's call the clip, off and try to line it up straight myself this spring. However, I don't know the first thing about it. Any tips would be appreciated. In my total ignorance, I think I have two pertinent questions. The first is, do you take the whole thing off as a unit and then try to put it all back straight, or do you take it apart and deal with the fenders separately. Second, do you just take it off and start from scratch, or do you carefully note each little sag or bulge and then address only those areas with shims and the like. Sorry this was so long. Thanks in advance. R. B.

I know search is off right now, but Martinsr did a complete write up on body panel alignment a few weeks ago. It was outstanding, and helped me get my hood straightened out. Now, I'm working on the fender.

Go to the bodyshop forum and look there

Good luck!

RB,

The work on panel alignment by Martinsr is still something to behold. Look at his message posted 1/11/02. It will fill in a lot of gaps. (no pun intended <evil grin>.

Look it up. You will be glad you did
