I found a wiring diagram for a 66 El Camino using El Camino centrals info, is this the same as the wiring for my 66 Chevelle? Color codes don't seem to match up for distributor/coil/heater etc.
Anyone have any idea where I can get the colors/descriptions for my Chevelle?
I thought I was almost ready to start this thing up but now major headaches....no idea what goes where. Especially ignition related (using HEI, 1 wire alternator). What color is the resistance wire? Elky chart says wht/orn/ppl but there isn't one there that color.
Also 2 large 10 gauge wires hanging in the horn area, not sure what they are for.
one green wire near the windshield washer, no idea what it is.
Help me Please!!!

green wire near washer bottle is for horn. 2 # 10 red near horn area go to the horn relay on the radiator support. Using HEI, you will have to change the original dist. wire from the firewall plug in the harness to a heavier guage, # 12 maybe, all the way to the dist as the HEI requires more voltage. 1 wire will require a different diagram as found at www.madelectrical.com. You need to read his stuff real good.

The green wire near washer is a lighter green than the horns, which are intact at the horn relay/horn area. the 2 #10 wires are coming from the horn relay and just cut off about 2 feet from the relay.

I have switched a conventional distributor for an HEI, so I think I have that wired correctly (same as your description).

There are two red wires near the heater/blower motor; one is very tiny (silver wire not copper) and the other is normal 24 or so gauge.

Can I just jump my neutral safety wires? I think I could possibly run a jumper wire between the purple and black (plug is under the dash). I think these are the neutral safety wires, aren't they?

Thanks,
Brian
