: 68 - 69 Grille Valances ???
mr2fast4u Apr 24th, 02, 1:24 PM My 69 Chevelle has a 68 Grille, which I am in the process of correcting.
I have realized that uprights are wrong, but what about the valance? I do have the brackets that mount on the valance for the headlight buckets.
Also if I can't come up with the uprights, does anyone carry these?
Thanks Brent

Mr69 Apr 25th, 02, 1:42 AM I think I might be able to help you with those parts. Help me a little more with a more lengthly description than just "uprights".
Nate
mr2fast4u Apr 25th, 02, 10:14 AM What I am speaking of are the three vertical braces between the radiator support and the grille. Two of them are on either side of the condensor and the last one is in the center.
But is the valance different and what is it that changed. I have a 68 and a 69 valance I think, and other than the size of a couple of holes I don't see the difference. The catalogs call out different number for the two years.
The problem is I can't really fit it till I find the vertical braces. Which are hopefully in my father in-laws garage or shed somewhere (the black hole), but he can't find them so looks like I'll be scrounging.

blue69 Apr 25th, 02, 1:29 PM Ive been thinking of your question. The 68 has a hood latch that opens above the grille, while the 69 opens up through the bumper opening on the driver side. Look and see if your bumper filler has the notch for the 69 hood latch on the drivers side. Hope this helps.
