: Reality of making a replacement 65 frame?

Custom frame for a 65, that wacky of an idea? Costly, yes, I know it would be. But I think I want a custom frame for my 65, especially after seeing what Art Morrison can provide to the 56-57 crowd.

Spoke with the folks at Art Morrison this morning. They have some great products and I love their 'replacement' frame concept. They have a complete frame for the 56 Chev that drops the height, narrows the rear, and allows for a mustang front suspension, etc. None of their stuff works or is available for the 65 Velle.

They say the 'radius' on the front pockets is too much for a mandrel bend. They said that even Chevy stamped out four pieces to make the 'pockets' then welded them together. I can only assume this is true because I don't really know.

I would really like a tube frame under my 65 for a number of reasons (same as above).

So maybe it cannot be mandrel bent in that section. Any other options?

Any other chassis firms on this forum interested in actually (not talking about it but actually doing it) making a replacement frame for the 65? Does anyone know of other chassis firms that might be interested in doing this? Art Morrison didn't seem to interested in it which kind of surprises me. That are supposed to have 100 frame dimensions on tap to build a replacement frame.

I am guessing because they said it was too much of a bend for the mandrel bender that they punch these into some sort of computerized bender and it spits out the pieces. IE., they can resell them in qty with little man hours on the product. Since this secton would require a manual weld, guessing that they are not interested in it.
