: She's All Done
Johnny_pugh Jun 19th, 06, 1:36 PM I started this on Canada Day , 2002. 69 Malibu convert. Frame purchased from Sundells in Oct 2002. With a lot of help from you people, I completed it on June 6 2006.
I purchased the car new from Oshawa in 69 but due to a badly rusted frame, took it off the rd. in 1998. I was viewing some old cars on display on Canada Day 2002 in Minden Ontario & one fellow had just completer a 1946 Pontiac Woody Wagon & he was very excited. This got my juices flowing, so I came home & started dismantling mine.
It "boasts" an inline 6 cyl. 250 cu inch engine with a Turbo Hydramatic 350 Transmission . I will attempt to post some pics.
allengator Jun 19th, 06, 2:10 PM very cool...!
Andy69 Jun 19th, 06, 3:00 PM what is this "done" word of which you speak?
j/k nice job!
136679ss Jun 19th, 06, 4:53 PM I think the word "done" he is referring too Andy, is the initial investment to do the frame off, etc. etc. etc. He hasn't had it on the road yet to figure in all the additional expenses of "not replaced because it looked good", " replaced but now broken again", " oh, crap I didn't know there were additional parts there", or my personal favorite " I know I spent a lot on that, but It just doesn't look right; I think I'll upgrade." JN
Skier_Bob Jun 19th, 06, 5:47 PM Congratulations! Looks great!. How's the ride?
malibu400 Jun 19th, 06, 6:25 PM Now all it needs is a 502 (Just kidding) Congratulations:)
furball8994 Jun 19th, 06, 6:39 PM Great job! Its fitting you "finished" it on D-day. D=done
Bill Pritchard Jun 20th, 06, 1:40 PM Looks great, Johnny  I have another set of seats (front and rear) and rear interior panels out at the upholstery shop right now, being upholstered in Parchment. So, before long, my convert will be the same color combo as yours - black with Parchment interior :D I think it's cool that you still have the original 6 cyl in your car.....definitely something different!!! Congratulations, too, on keeping it all these years. Is your conv top white or black?
Widetires22 Jun 20th, 06, 6:33 PM Done = I am happy for now!
Next year he will once again be searching for that bargain NOS knob that eluded him this time around. :O)
We're all glad you saved her Johnny, it looks nice!
I am pushing hard to finish my '70 by next month.
Glad you posted some photos. It proves it can be "done"...

Phil Keller Jun 20th, 06, 10:41 PM Definitely worth the time and effort! Done or not, it is beautiful.
mike69ss Jun 21st, 06, 12:37 PM Car looks great, you did a very nice job. I really like the color combo -- Is it original?
Congrats Johnny! I actually walked right by your place when you started your project back in 2002 but didn't know it. Remember we chatted later about my Oshawa-built '67 and that mint Sierra Fawn '67 Beaumont driving around by your place. It's so nice to see her done, so unusual to hear of a 1-owner '69 Chevelle, and so unusual (but good) that you left it stock. There were only 484 Chevelle Malibu convertibles with sixes made in the U.S. for '69; the number of Canadian-built cars would be less than a tenth of that.
My friends Scott & Lia (Lia's Glass Emporium) live out by you in Lochlin on regional road 1. Scott is into old Chevies as well; I'd bet he'd love to see your car. His dad ordered a '67 Biscayne six-cylinder with ultra rare Z04 h.d. chassis equipment (front sway bar, 12-bolt rear, F40 suspension) plus Positraction (always). If I'm ever up there this summer I'll be sure to keep my eyes peeled for you.
Hey, summer has just begun! Get out there and enjoy!
pstonhead Jun 21st, 06, 9:05 PM See you in Minden on Canada Day. (red tricked out 68 vert)
