I just rcvd my engine (396) back from the machine shop. Once I get it assembled what is the best way to store it until I'm ready. I may not be able to start it till at least summer 07, with a little luck maybe sooner.

I'm was going to paint the block so the outside is sealed. Then my plans were leave it on the engine stand & remove the distributor about every two weeks and prime it with a drill. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Make sure all the internals are well oiled... which you would do during assembly... sounds like priming it every so often would be fine... you could spray fogging spray in the cylinders and leave it longer (like 4 months between oil primings)...

Roll the motor every month or so to keep pressure off the valve springs. Assuming that you have the rockers adjusted already. This method will also keep the rings from rusting to the cylinder walls (less likely).
