: brace/body mount between rear wheel houses

My '66 Malibu convertible is a rust-bucket, to say the least. There is a brace behind the rear seat, between the rear wheel houses, just forward of the differential housing that is rotted badly. It contains two body mount positions. I possess all three passenger-compartment braces, but this one has proven elusive. There appears to be no reproduction part available - am I right? I even spoke with a person who is most certantly knowledgeable, but he didn't even know what I was talking about. Perhaps it is a convertible-specific part. Anyway, I've designed a part and I'm currently waiting for a friend of mine, who owns a machine shop, to bend the custom channel for me. I'll modify/fit it to the car and let anyone interested know how it goes. In the meantime, has anyone out there had to deal with this problem?

Are you talking about the pan that goes over the rear axle. There is some kind of sub-brace that mounts under the trunk pan right behind the rear seat and then there are 2 body bushings that it just sits on (at least with my 69) there is no reproduction of this part and i had to cut out the pan and brace from a parts car. Ill find some pictures of it for you

goes inbetween the 2 wheelwells and right behind the rear seat pan. there are then 2 body bushings it rides onto of

Thank you for the quick reply. Yes, that's the part. I should have the first prototype finished sometime in the next month - if I can get my buddy to get his part of the job done! I'll post some pics - and maybe get to a trial fit. I suppose not enough folks have had an issue with this brace or there'd probably be a reproduction. Thanks again.
