On my 65, how hard is it to replace the front window channel? You know, the piece right below the front windshield.
I was wondering if I should use por 15 epoxy putty for a temporary fix, since there is only one area at driver side that has a screwdriver size hole. Or go ahead and replace the whole channel.
TIA,
Glenn

Are you talking about the actual window channel or the cowl cover that the wiper arms come through?
If its the former, I recall from my 64 that the window channel is integral with the cowl so replacement would be major surgery. A screwdriver size hole really doesn't sound too bad. Maybe you could consider the POR patch fabric for a temporary fix. Of course, having someone weld in a patch would be the best answer.
If you are talking about the actual window channel and you already have the window out, this may also be a good time to clean up the whole window channel. One problem I ran into on my 64 was that the channel had become porous around the spot welds and was seeping water to the inside. A good coat of POR would also take care of this.
Hope this helps.

There is a repair piece available for the window channel right across the bottom of the windshield, Ausley's and other places stock it.

progress has little to do with speed, but lots to do with direction.

Gwl, I just did mine and its not to bad, but my whole channel was badly rusted, if you only have some small holes I would just grind out the rust and weld in some new metal. I can email you some pics of what I did.
