I just got my Chicago Electric powdercoating system in the other day and was reading the directions. I did notice that you can get rid of orange peel by sanding down the powder once it has been baked and reapply another coat until smooth. Any other times or tricks out there? Thanks.

I always preheat heavy parts like spindles and rear end housings. But, when you do this be careful not to lay on too much powder.

Make sure it is clean and wipe it with a tack cloth like you would before painting.I had some problems with dirt the first few times i did it.

Clean, clean, then clean again. any part that you used water on PRE-BAKE which will boil off any remaining water (which will form rust underneath) also, high heat parts don't like powdercoating (so I'm told) my friend powdercoated his intake, and the heat cracked the coating (spider cracks) remember SAND has silicone in it.. so sandblasted parts should be thoroughly cleaned before coating.. Good Luck

P.S. if you use your household oven your wife WILL KILL YOU, if the fumes don't kill you and your family first http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif
