I have a 69 Chevelle Malibu that I am going to put super sport trim on, just because I like it, not to pass it off as original. Anyway, I've got new GM front fenders and need to know what the dimensions are so I can drill the holes before paint. Can anyone give me an idea from their experience. What reference point do you measure from. In the Assembly manual they give dimensions listed from an x-y type coordinate, but it seems to be an arbitrary point in space. Help!!

Here are the dimensions from my car locating the TOP PIN of the REAR "S".

NOTE: I drilled these holes so they may not be EXACT. They appear correct though.

9-1/2" down from the top edge of the fender using a nylon tape to follow the contour.

5-1/2" from the rear edge of the fender forward.

Hopefully someone with a factory SS fender will chime in.

The assembly manual shows how to come up with the "0" points of the fender. (If you're really into CORRECT) The instructions were close to the center in mine, I seem to remember A12, but don't quote me on that. You use the rear most mounting bolt hole for the radiator surround and the bottom edge of the fender and measure from there to get the "0" point, then use the noted measurements for any trim, etc.

On the same subject, but different question; I have a 71 Chevelle SS, and am trying to apply the "396" fender emblem under the "SS". The emblem itself has a pin on each end, and a nub on the center/bottom. Do I drill a hole for the nub, too, or do I just let it rest on the fender once the pins are secured? Thanks for any help!!

Drill the small hole for the nub too, or you'll get a nice ding in the fender when you cinch up the speed nuts.

Thanks Joey B...one more: How far below the "SS" is correct to place the "396"; is it 1/2" or is it specified anywhere? Thanks again!
