Checked out some Russell braided line in -8AN size and it measured about 5/16 ID. The outside braid area was maybe 5/8.
It is supposed to be 8/16 or 1/2 inch.
What gives ??
If this is what you get with braided line and outa sight fitting prices, I am going to go with aluminum 1/2 and compression fittings.

I've never measured the sizes of braided line. I do know that hardline is measured by the OD. The chunk of 1/2" alum line I have measures 3/8" ID.

That's what I did. It's a heck of a lot cheaper and I personally am tired of seeing braided lines and red/blue fittings under the hood of every performance car. They're pretty, but overdone IMO.

Well maybe if I stretch the tape measure we can get 3/8 ID out of the braided line. Sure don't know where they get 1/2 from.
So basically 1/2 inch aluminum is 3/8 ID which is about the same as the -8 AN.
Anyway, is a -8 AN braided line from the tank/fuel pump/filter to the engine compartment regulartor/carb going to be enough for an 11 sec big block ?

Yes that is plenty big enough. You would probably be perfectly fine with -6 AN from the pump to the reg and carb.
It would probably be much cheaper to run -8 AN to the filter and pump then 3/8 aluminum up to the engine compartment then flare it for -6 AN to the reg and -6 AN to the carb.

Have you measured it with calipers? Try that and see what it reads.

I ran one -8 from tank to carb & again from tank to plate & it ran 10.0's w/o issue. prolly quite a bit overkill, but I had 2 fuel systems & was going to step up the N2O quite a bit. never did though, I'm going another direction with it.
