The last BB pan i bought i got of ebay and spent about 50 bucks shipping and all it was a repo but worked fine, if i had to spend $150.00 i would go ahead and get a 7 qrt race pan from moroso $152.99 i would watch ebay just be careful not to get a truck pan!

Unless you are racing, Put a stock G.M. pan on it. Or put a cheep pan on your car and after you car is finished and you say O SHIP-the seal is leaking. You can pull the engine and then put a G.M. pan on it!!! Your Call!!! A stock 4 qt. G.M. is fine. My one owner LS 5 M 22 has had the 4 qt. on it for 36 years. did frame off ,rebuilt engine same old pan back on it. Built a 454 driver, With a cheep oil pan, and yes pulled the engine 4 months later and put a G.M. 4 Qt. back on. Will a 5 qt. clear your crossmember? A Chevelle oil pan is not something to experment with and a pain to change if it leaks. Again your call. Good luck Bob ACES 2825

1badss396,
I do not think that pan will fit. There is a big post on this on the forum. I have two of those pans with the bolts and tray and I took one off already because of the post. I guess they hit the front cross member on the back side. I like the stock windage tray but it cannot be used on the chevelle from what I read.

Don't buy a pan that is for a Corvette. They will not fit the front crossmember. Chevelle pans are made with the sump in a different location than the Corvette.

Also, I bought an LS7 engine many years ago and found out the hard way that the oil pan that comes on an LS7 is for a Corvette.
