Looking for a piece of chrome trim that the conv. boot clips to for a 69 chevelle conv. I've found a guy out of South Carolina that has them reconditioned for $300, ouch ..... Thanks in advance for any advise/leads

In my lifetime, I've seen one at a swapmeet, it was more than that. Luckily, mine was/is good.

The part is a pinchweld molding. I had needed the same part and it drove me crazy trying to find one. I eventually found one at a junkyard in OKC.
