Hi everybody, I was just thinking how I need to get this rust problem fixed before winter comes again. For a long time since I had the car, I always covered my car up w/ plactic everytime it rained, and never drove it while it rained, pretty pathetic. I have rust holes in between the the front and rear windows, and don't know how to go about this. I can do all the mechanical work but never learned how to weld, still going to school. I was thinking for now is to take out each window and use some 3M body filler, clean the surfaces with a grinder, apply the filler on both sides and sand it nice and smooth then paint it and reassemble the windows. I know it would be better to cut out the entire rust section and weld in some metal but I really don't have the money for that right now. I was thinking of doing the filler for now until I do a frame off resto on the car when I'm older and have more money. I even took it to a body shop and they didn't even want to work it, they said "your going to be spending at least $1200" Any advice would help me out alot, thanks, Eric

The rust will come through of course in a year or two but I wouldn't see any reason why you couldn't do that. Get some of that Por15 or another product like that to buy yourself some more time.

I just bought a small 110 welder and have been teaching myself to weld for the last couple weeks. It opens up a whole new world of opportunity. Maybe you can find a used one near you.
