I had to reinstall XP on my home computer and now i cant get the modem to work or get the monitor resolution right. Any help from anyone what i can do? I cant get on the net with it (using my laptop for this post), and if i could then maybe i could get some updates for it.

Thanks,
Andy

You will probably have to re-install the drivers for your modem and video card if they are separate from the motherboard. XP usually just installs generic drivers to get things going but it is best to install the correct drivers from their CD if you have it, then check for updates when you get everything going again.

open your case and pull the video and modem card. Identify the cards and get the drivers for them with your laptop. Jon

try windows update and choose the software driver portion. Maybe you'll get lukcy and they will have identified your hardware and offer drivers. Other wise look in device manager and maybe it will at least know the name if not open the case. If it is a dell or something like that they have downloads or online scanners I think that can tell you what drivers you need as well.
