a small area on the underside of my hood (braces) has seperated from the hood itself and has about a 1" gap. what glue/adhesive do I need to use to glue the frame back to the hood. thought about tack welding it, but thought a modern adhesive would work better. thanks guys.

A 1" separation?? Sounds like something is bent/warped or will be when pulled back into place...
There is a special expanding foam that is used between the stiffners and outer panels on hoods and deck lids. I don't like using it. I recently redid a hood that had a small underhood fire. I turned the hood upside down, cleaned it well and gently pried the stiffners away from the panel and squirted construction grade black silicon in there. In your case, you may need to place something heavy enough to hold the stiffner in place 'til the silicon cures(several hours).
Any excess silicon sticking out from under the stiffners can be trimmed off with a razor blade once it cures.
A large tube of construction grade silicon only costs about $4. and you can apply it with a normal caulking gun.
