I changed out the sweep dash on my 70 Chevelle clone to a SS with gauges with a new dash wiring harness. The heater blower, headlights, brake lights, lighter, clock, wipers, glove box light, etc. all work fine; however, when I turn the key, I get nothing. Put in a new battery with new battery cables. Checked the starter wires. One was loose, but stripped it and tightened it down. I am extremely ignorant on electricity, but it seems to me that the problem is between the ignition and the starter. I haven't messed with any of the other under the hood wiring. It is an original harness. Any thoughts to get me going? My ignorance is frustrating me. Thanks, Mike.

Won't start or won't crank??? I assume won't crank. First will the starter crank if you jump the starter BAT terminal with the starter "S" terminal. Next power for the start circuit comes from the ignition switch through a 12g purple w/ white strip and goes to the neutral safety switch. A 12g purple leaves the neutral safety switch and goes to the starter "S" terminal. Check these places for power with the key in the crank position. Neutral safety switch can be either on top of the column or in the console. The purple wires are easily seen under the dash (largest factory wires under there and purple in color), heres a pic

Thanks, Neutral Safety Switch relplaced and it will now crank. Of course, now there is no gas getting to the carburator. It's always something.
