I need advice for removal of the chrome trim around my wind shield? Is it glued or clipped? Any tricks to removing without bending or scratching. Its on a 65 impala SS. Is the trim on rear window removed the same?

Hi Scott

There is a special tool for removing that trim. It has a thin blade with a hook on it. You slide it under the trim and release the clips holding the trim on. I will check to see if I have pics of these clips with the trim off

the rear window is the same as front. You will need the special tool. Also most people put masking tape on the windshield beside the trim so that the tool won't scratch the window as you slide it along to disengage the clips. The body service manual has good writeup if I recall correctly. Also do a search here on windshield trim and you will find more info on how to remove.

And if youre really lucky, someone didnt already slather silicone or some other "goop" in around the clips previously... if they did, GFL getting the moldings off without destroying them. Been there, done that!
