Didn't pay a whole lot of attention when yanking 454 out of donor car, and this is my first big block go round, could one of you please tell me which way distributor rotates? Clockwise or not? And I'm guessing #`1 is front of block driver's side. This is such a weak question I'm thinking of cancelling my membership in shame. Please help me thru this moment of brutal inadequacy. tks, you guys rock

You're absolutely right, clockwise. An easy way to do the initial timing thing is to turn the engine over by hand to TDC, drop in the distributor in and check to see that #1 spark plug wire is sitting just past where the rotor bug is pointed.

And yes, #1 is front cylinder on drivers side. left bank 1,3,5,7, right bank 2,4,6,8. Firing order 18436572. The only dumb question........is a question never asked.
