I want to switch out my 60 amp for a 105. The 60 amp in internally regulated so the wiring is already done, i just need an amp. What are some donor cars that I can pull one from? they run like 150$ new and I would rather use a junk yard one first and then I would at least have a core if it goes bad.
Thanks for the help

Its not just the (amp) you need everything. Coil winding and the (I think it called the aperture)(center part). They are what determines the amperage.

What is it going in? I just took my old alternator to the parts store with me, and started looking thru the books for a newer application. I think I ended up with one for a mid 80's camaro or caprice maybe? I cant remember for sure, but it's a 100 or 105 amp unit. Just compare it with the one you bring in for mounting purposes. As I remember, it only ran about 40 or 50 bucks. John

What kind of alternator are you interested in (12si, CS130 ect...) Most any mid 80,s and up GM alternator will fit. Just look at the mounting holes. Don't worry about the position of the terminals. Alternators can be reclocked to put them where you want them. (clocking is the position of the terminals in relation to the mounting holes)

Look at FWD GM cars as well. Just about anything with EFI will have a 105amp alt. As was mentioned just check the position of the mounting holes.
