I was watchin' the '63 Nova drag car episode of Wrecks to Riches tonight and noticed that they had a nostalgia looking set of slicks, like the old M & H's from the 60's that had the heavy notches in the sidewall right up by the tread. Since the tires had labels on the tread they were obviously some kind of repops, but I've never seen em anywhere.
Anybody know who/where builds em?

i think the "Coker" company makes these tires now. old style cheater slicks. they have a wide varity of offerings.

Thanks for the reply. I've bought Coker stuff for years and they don't have the tire that was on the Nova, or at least it's not in their newest catalogue. The one I'm looking for is a regular slick with NO cheater type grooves, and appears to have a very stiff sidewall, just like from the old days.

There are reproduction Hurst Drag Slicks on e-bay often, or you can do a search for NorthWest Speed. They have them. They are recaps. I will tell you that. The best quality, that is not a recap is the Radir Slicks offered on their website. We are going to use those on my dad's 66 Chevy II 2 dr sedan.

They are cheater slicks with "pie crust" ribbed sidewalls. You can get them grooved or ungrooved if you want a true slick. I have Coker recaps on my 64 but you can get Radir dragster slicks with the same look in a modern one-piece design. Here's the link. http://www.radirwheels.com/contents.htm

Make sure you get them big enough so you need to cut the wheel well out with a sawzall and take a 10" disc grinder to the leaf springs to get it to fit. LOL
What a freakin hack job. They always do the fitment after the paint!

No doubt. These cars do not impress me whatsoever. I especially like how they paint the cars and then powerwash the old stuff from the firewall and underneath. Now that is quality. LOL
