wow, unbelievable. Its just amazing that there is a big enough demand and that people are willing to pay enough for a brand new "old" car, if that makes sense. What a crazy hobby.... I love it.

With all the repro parts being made overseas, you would end up having more in common with the import kids. :p

The body stampings are from Taiwan. Crappy deal, but it beats the hell out of using a supplier in Communist China. They are using thin sheet metal, too--but of course it's "High strength" metal, whatever that means. (I'm thinking it means that they're thin, cheap, easily rusted, easily dented, and the price of REAL Camaros just went up.)

I'm told all those new bodies come with fart can exhaust tips, and asian character decals.

Aww come on guys... While I agree it will increase the value of REAL Camaros, I don't think it's a bad deal to be able to buy/build a custom Camaro (or Chevelle in the future). If anything I think it will only make our hobby more popular. With more popularity comes more kick a$$ products.

Not many people can afford 10k on a bare body, but think of the possibilities of what you could build out of a new, completely rust free Chevelle body, hey I'm all for it as long as there's some provision for indentifying fraud. And when I say fraud I mean people trying to pass one off as say a real SS.

Solid rust free bodies can still be had in the southwest, one just has to be willing to look outside the box.

True, but they are getting bought up quick. There were only so many made and there's not an unlimited supply down there. They are REAL hard to find when you live in NorthWest (Oregon/Washington area). So much rain up here they all seem to be rusty.

Anyhow, think of it this way... If guys buy the "pre-fabbed" bodies for toys then there will be more "Originals" for the collectors. Nothing wrong with that.

Last year at spring carlisle there was a hugger orange 69 convertible built from the ground up using ALL aftermarket parts including the main shell. It looked really nice.
