I know to save money! Before purchasing the car I was told the car had been stripped 4 years ago(2 years prior to us buying it) before they painted it. The deer accident that prompted this "restoration" proved otherwise as I saw the old paint under the bent fender moldings. Should have known then to expect surprises. A new vinyl top was installed at the same time the body was "stripped" and painted. Glad we removed the top. They didn't bother to treat the roof prior to installing the new top. Needless to say rust was lurking under it.

Fast forward to two weeks ago. Finally got what was left of the car in to be painted. We'd already taken all removable parts in a year ago to be stripped, blasted and repaired where needed. Went to see the shell last Thursday. They had sanded the quarters and fixed a couple of small rust spots behind the wheels, or so he thought. While talking to him I said since you've stripped the rest of the parts why not strip the quarters so we're starting fresh, he agreed that would probably be best. Today he calls and tells me that the right rear quarter needs a lower patch panel. When they did the body work and paint 4 years ago they just put body putty over the rust. No major rust so to speak but rust just the same. Expect to find the same on the drivers side. I realize there's going to be rust and repairs need to be made but to just cover it up, man you're just asking for trouble.

I was taught when you do something do it right the first time to the best of your ability or don't bother doing it at all. Anyway like I've read here time and time again BUYER BEWARE!!!!!

Ah I feel better now, thanks for listening. Pete
