I have installed a new alternator (external regulated) and a new voltage regulator. The problem I have is when I installed the coil type voltage regulator the idiot light was not illuminated but my voltage was around 15 to 15.5 at the battery. I replaced the voltage regulator with a chrome transistor type and the voltage at the battery is 14.2 but the GEN light is on dim. The cars runs fine and I feel the battery is charging with both. One seems a little high and the other seems to be putting out the correct voltage but the idiot light is on. The voltage reg. is grounded to the rad support. Any suggestions???

make sure the rad. support is grounded to the frame/fender/battery as needed.
