Hey, I just got some new retainer clips for the windshield trim on my '66 and found that there are two different sizes. All the clips that came off originally were the same size/shape, etc... The place I got them from said that the small ones went on the side post pillars and the bigger ones went on the top and bottom areas. The small ones do match the side post originals but does anyone know about the bigger size for the other areas? Thanks, Chris

There are so many different clips for windshield mouldings even the glass guys get confused.
Please, just make sure you have the right ones before you install your glass! I think the side ones still screwed in up thru '67. Those you REALLY need to be sure they are the right, you can't change them once the glass is in. If you think I know this from experiance you are right  graemlins/angry.gif
The larger ones are probably a "universal" style. I see those all the time. They have slanted slot that goes over the stud on the body. Go ahead and put one or two on the car without the glass in. Then click the moulding on. Be sure that the moulding fits flush with the top of the body. If it does, you are pretty much assured all is well.
Some clips may have the correct overall height but the little "hook" that sits out there to grab the moulding is lower on the clip!! So you would think you have the right one and the moulding won't go on because it hits the glass before it clicks into the clip.
All I can say is DON'T take the "glass guys" word for it. DON'T take the "repro parts guys" word for it, trial fit them.

Chris. I have replaced the clips on my 66. The were all of the same size. All clips use studs, no screws.
The rear window uses larger clips. Perhaps the two are mixed up?

Thanks for all the info, guys. Yeah, the side post clips did screw in and they were the smaller size. The upper and bottom clips are the "stud" mount. It looks like I'll have to trial fit them like you guys said. I also have the rear window clips and they're even bigger than the big size fronts but at least they all match the rear originals so I know I didn't get them mixed up...
Thanks again for all your help,
Chris

I finally got some time to install the window trim and the big size clips did work so it all turned out really well... Chris
