I really like Lemans blue in some pictures. It is a sharp color. But in some other pictures it looks like a very very light blue. Is it because in the sun Le Mans blue is light and in the shade it looks really good? Is there any way of adding something to lemans blue to make it darker. I just want a blue for my chevelle but nothing light. I want a darker blue not midnight though.

Personally I don't think of LeMans Blue as being light I think of it as more of a Bright Blue.

IF you are not going to paint it an original color than find a late model car color and go with that.

Check my sig that car is Azure Turquiose I believe paint code 53. Contrary to the name It has very little green in it and most people mistake it for LeMans Blue.

My '69 was LeMans Blue. Looked great sun or shade. Had MANY complements on the color. Done correctly, its hard to beat.

Ijust sold a 69 Chevelle SS in 2003 that was just painted with bascoat/clearcoat Lemans Blue Poly and it really looked sharp. I just checked with my paint supplier yesterday on this color in DBC basecoat for possibly using to paint this color on my 68 El Camino. The color Lemans Blue Poly in the year of 1969 on a Chevelle is paint code 976 , number is DBC 2083 in PPG, price per gallon in DBC Basecoat is $243.99, and price per quart is $76.15. Believe it or not its one of the less expensive (base prices) colors. When I bought this same color in basecoat in 1998 to paint my 69 Chevelle SS it was a little over one hundred dollars a gallon. Shows you how much paints went up since then. He also told me that PPG will have a 4% increase in their paint supplies starting on April 1st of this year, so Im going to buy most of my supplies before then because saving every little bit does help.
