I want to take my chevelle out to get the A/C lines made and system charged but i am still waiting for some necessary parts to start the engine. Do I need a running engine to charge the system?
Thanks
Danny

Yes you do, usually. The compressor has to run to "draw" in the refrigerant. There are charging stations that pump the charge into the system but many shops don't have that type.
If you have an early Chevelle (pre 1978?)you also need to have the POA and expansion valves tested if the system has not worked for some time.

Thanks for the reply. It's actually a vintage air system so everything is new. Ill go ahead and get the engine running before i take it to get done.
Thanks again
