This may be the dumb question for the day but I need to ask....

I know that by putting a crank from a bigger block into a smaller block (400cid-350cid) gives you a stroker. What about the same for my 402? It gives you a longer stroke so is that adding cubic inches as well as a higher compression or what? I am asking because I want to add more power to my
'70 402 motor and researching all options.

396-427 have the same stroke, 427-454 same bore, 454 has a longer stroke than 396-427(a 427 actually used a diff crank than a 396, one of the counter weights was slightly bigger for balancing) a popular combo was a 454 block with a 427 crank, making a 427 since finding 427 blocks was hard-some early 396's were bored out to a 427 bore, but had to be tested for wall thickness(i had one, ran pretty hot)

So I guess I can't put a 454 crank in a 396 block....:(
