: What is the best way?

Have a 70 Chevelle with rot holes behind the rear tires. The flat part of the trunk is in good shape but the crevice right behind the rear tires has holes and water from the tires comes into the trunk when it's wet out. What would be the best way to fix? I don't think there are aftermarket sheetmetal parts for this. Had many old Impalas with the same problem.

You need outer wheelwells. If you're not concerned about it being original "looking", You can weld some patches in,spray some undercoating on it after and seam seal from the trunk side.Slipping further down the "quality" scale, you can fiberglass the hole(s) and undercoat. It all depends on how "correct" you want it.

Not to worried about correctness, car is a SS 396 clone which will never be a show car. After I posted I grabbed an NPD catalog and saw what is called a "Filler Panel, Trunk Floor To Qtr." for $49.95 ea. Do you think that is what I need?

Excellent, That is what I'll use. BTW my son has your 70 SS 396 set as his computer wallpaper for about two months now. His car looks like it. Thanks.
