Well I have to braak down and put a new cylinder in---fitting keeps blowing out. Should I replace both cyliners now that I have it apart? And should the lines be repalced too with a new cylinder? What do you think?

Well you could look at this way ?

New Pump- more pressure ?

Old Lines tend to crack and break - big mess

Old cylinders may now be prone to a blown or leaking seal- big mess

Do ypurself a favor if the budget affors it and replace it all !

You wont be sorry.

One of my cylinders leaks and needs replaced, and as far as I know all my lines and etc are original. I'm kind of leaning towards just replacing it all and being done with it for another 40 years or so. Has anyone bought from these guys? http://www.convertibleparts.com/hydrauli.htm
$139/ cylinder, selling them for the same price on ebay but could knock another $17 off each one with ebates/live.com/ebay bucks. Is it recommended that we replace both cylinders at once or does it even matter? To be honest when I bought the car the cylinders were in the trunk and I'm not sure how functional either of them might or might not be.

I purchased the complete set, two cylinders, pump, and lines from them. No problems. Sometimes 40 year old stuff needs replacing.

I ordered some lines through them on ebay and it came to right at $95 shipped; they came fairly quickly. The difference in quality between these new lines and the old ones in the car is huge, and after seeing just how bad my old ones were by comparison I would have to second Ricks advice and say just spend the extra money if you can.
