I know this is a huge favor to ask but I need 2 measurements from a original and a repo SS hood. I purchased a SS hood form DII and we all know how they fit :( anyway my side to side gaps a alittle large but the back gap to the cowl is huge It drives me crazy, the is some space in the fender to piller gap and I could have the hood pushed back a hair, but the bodyshop says it wont change much so if I can get some measurements I can show him or me if there is that much differance, so I am looking for overall lenght front to back and if you realy want to give me side to side it would be great. Thanks so much, I hope to be cruzing in a week :) Bodyshop just has to wet sand an compound install some moldings and fix some gaps and I am gone :D

Do you have the original hood to take measurements from, they should be the same.

No I do not have the original hood, I do have the repo hood so I guess I just need the measurment from an Original Hood SS or Malibu compare.
It was early this morning when I posted this I guess I wasnt awake yet.
Thanks

What do you need measurements from? I can measure tomorrow on my Malibu (Flat) hood if you want.

Thanks Kyle, If you can just measure front to back of the hood along the fender edge that would be great !!!!!!!! Thank you so much :beers:

The back gap is huge because you need to trim the rear right corner on both sides to make it fit properly. Look closely at that corner and you see it doesn't match the other. Trim the corners and re-weld and the correct gap can then be made. This is a common defect in all their '67 SS hoods that I have seen to date. Easy to pick out a repro this way at a show if it was just slapped on. See this link for additional comments ...http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=124292

Hi everyone,, well it was worth the baggering,, I lied and measured my hood and told them I had someone measure a original hood and it was the same. So once again I gave the the assembly manual / service manual / and pictures of a chevelle with close ups of the fender hood and door gaps and told them do it my way and the books way... well after kicking and screaming they did it and it looks great all the gaps finally look fantasic !!!!! :D

The moarle of the story dont settle for anything, if your not happy make them fix it until you are, I almost walked away and left it,, like they wanted it and I would have been very unhappy !
