I just noticed my rear window was leaking. When I pulled the molding and window I found holes in both corners, a little up the sides, and a slight amount in the bottom. I can find the filler panel, but can not find any replacement for the sides. My quarters are good except for the rust around the window. My package rack panel is also rusted. Someone used a rust stablizer on it then just covered it up. Is there a replacement panel for this. Who makes the best replacement panels. I see several companys make the panel I need for the lower chanel to trunk but, don't know who makes the best one.

Thanks

The filler panel is the only available replacement steel you can purchase. Donor cars are 99% sure to have the same rust as yours does. This is common to all Chevelles.
The rust will have to patched with new metal and will have to welded in.

I pulled the windshield out of my 64 ElCamino and found some bad rust (http://mediaservice.photoisland.com/auction/Jun/20026116729684332646068.jpg) I repaired it by grinding and welding in a piece of metal. I think it will be ok here but it will be back I'm sure.Repair (http://mediaservice.photoisland.com/auction/Jun/20026113580940829444136.jpg)

66Chevelle350. I have used one myself from Ausleys. It was not exactly the same, but very usable. I know Corey Vandiver ( http://www.chevelless.com ) replaced his filler panel too and got it from Year One.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. Does anyone make the panel that goes on the inside below the rear window. The package shelf. Mine is rusted on the right side from a leak years ago.

thanks

I welded in a rear window panel on my 67 SS hdtp and it fit great. Man, was I relieved. Kinda scared of aftermarket sheet metal.
For the sides you will have to fabricate your own patch panels. Get your rear panel, cut out the old one, and start fitting the new on. You can make patch panels from your old panel that you just removed (if it isn't rusted out everywhere). I considered welding in drain tubes in the corners and routing the water out of the car through the rubber plugs in the lower quarter panel backing panels.
For your rear speaker panel you will have to hunt something up from the junk yard. Good luck.

Thanks

thats kinda what I was thinking of doing. My bottom panel is not real bad, so I think I can use that to fabricate the side pieces. My inside panel is just rusted on the right side. The rest of it is just surface rust. Maybe I can clean it up and use POR 15 or something like it on it.

Where is the best place to get the bottom window panel? I keep hearing some of the panels don"t fit properly.

Thanks Brad

I'm in need of the same panel. I'm driving to Hinshaw's Chevelle June 21st to pick it up. Although I haven't seen it, judging by the floor pans I got from them the rear window panel will be great!!

I have the same rust as you but probably worse so I'm doing all welding. Let me know ya want me to let ya know how it goes. I can send pix when I'm done. My time line is to have it done by mid-July.
