Looked at a 72 or what i could see of it and then at a 70 that I could at least uncover and get the cars info from. Any help in decoding the VIN/Cowl tag? Also this car has red paint now with old 454 Fender emblems. Interior has the SS trim as well. car has no engine it now and was raced most of its life

VIN as listed is incomplete/incorrect, probably should be 136370L194256 which indicates a V8 2-dr Malibu sport coupe [13637], 0 would be the model year [1970], L for Los Angeles (Van Nuys) assembly plant and 194256 as the sequence number starting with 100001 for the LA plant.

Body Plate shows 70 model year, 13637 trim level, BL is the Fisher code for Van Nuys, 10232 is a data proc number for tracking assembly.
TR 762 is for Med. Blue River Cloth/Met. Med. Blue Coated Fabric bench seat, 10-10 is lower-upper paint of Classic White.
05D is body assembly date of May, 4th week.
817261 230169 are data processing numbers found on the build sheet and of no real significance now unless you have the build sheet then they're only use is to verify/match the car to the build sheet.

FWIW, no way to verify any 70 as having been born a SS car without matching number engine or build sheet noting the SS option.
