It weighs in at a little more than 4200 lbs and runs on 89 octane gas I think it has a little more in it. My tranny is going south it 60 foots the same times as it did with my old motor that ran a second slower.

Dude can I ask you 2 things? 1.) About how much did the engine cost you and 2.) What is your CR? Those are the times I am looking to get in a Chevelle. My motto is the best way to get from A to B is to copy someone at B and seeing as how you have about and extra 400 lb B I could get someplace around a 12 flat with the same combo.

if i remember correctly the dynamic compression was around 8.2 to 1 and i think i have about $3000 in total

WOW. Thats quite a bit of bang for the buck. I would probably put the CR someplace around 9.5:1 so if I built a similar combo it would be pretty lethal. how are its manners? Does it seem like it would be streetable at all (im kind of crazy, not streetable in my book is guzzling more than 8 mpg when taking it easy and basically having no idle lol).

it helps to have a machinist for a buddy who gives you a break on all the parts and labor. as far as street manners it idles at 900 rpms at stoplights always runs about 195 havent drove through a summer yet but its been okay on 95 degree days so far this year. the only bad thing is it cant pass a gas station without stopping

Yeah, my dad is a machinest. He doesn't work at a machine shop though, he works for a huge company. He can get some things done for me though. He cant do it all though or his supervisor might get annoyed but if its a few things here and there he can care less. I figured you probably has a buddy like that or a fair shop around. Thats still pretty darn good though. And the gas is just part of having the high output big block. I would probably go with some taller gears though, like 3.55s and a wide ratio muncie so I would gain ET there that I would gain from the weight loss and then loose some of that gained ET with the extra compression. Not to mention better mileage due to the lost weight. If I can 10 mpg ill be happy. I have a pretty good job lined up so I will be alright considering I dont pay rent/mortgage and for electiricity, oil, etc. Just my insurance will by sky high lol. Sweet times for an Impala though:thumbsup:
