Well my car finally got painted this week (dark shadow gray). I just got to see it tonite, and to say the least i'm pretty disapointed and a bit scared.

The car was in the paint booth with 20 fluorescent lights on it, so you could see everything. I saw specks of dust on every panel except the roof. Not just 1 or 2 specks, it was peppered here and there.

What's a normal amount of dust for a newly painted car to have?

If the car was wet-sanded would it fix most of it?

Out in the sun I'm sure it wouldn't look nearly as bad and mostly undetectable, but seeing all the litle buggers in the paint booth freaked me out.

Dust and many SMALL particles in the clear coats shouldn't be a problem as long as they are not real big or real deep in the color coats.. The car needs to be wet sanded and buffed to remove these particles. I would do a search in this body section and you will get lots of info on color sanding. If a body shop did the paint, I would think they would do it since it's really part of the painting process. In a super clean booth you will usually get some dirt/dust in the paint which will need to be sanded/buffed out...

The guy who painted the car should have assured. you the Dirt/Dust/bugs are common . And the beauity of a BC/CC system the ability to FIX it.

After a sanding and buffing you will not know the dif. plus it will look better then when frist painted..
