I need help again... I bought UMI uppers and lowers and edlebrock anti hop bars,,,well before reading everything i installed new bushings in the uppers ears on the rear end...so the question is in worth it to tear out the new bushings and install the anti hop bars? or just leave them off and tune the suspension... I am also installing air bags and lakewood ladder bars,
car is a 69 ss with a 396 and growing..Auto, 4:10 gears... any advice so i can continue...

Install the no-hops and ditch the ladder bars

I'll cast another vote for the no hop bars, I like them. On the other hand, you have the bushings in, if you have adjustable uppers, definetly try it without the no hops. Try some different setups!
I think most will agree, ladder bars look cool and will stop wheel hop. They don't let your suspension move much, and your car will like a tank! I ran ladder bars and air shocks back in the early 80's. I had to have all my fillings replaced in my teeth :D LOL. Now my car has Morrison adjustable upper kit, HUGE difference!!

Guys thanks for the info.. I used to run the Ladder bar/air shock setup in the early 80's also...and i liked the look but yes it was stiff.. i guess thats why i am haveing a hard time to decide looks verses function...i dont really care that it does not corner very well...i rather it launch.. and i used to have a 72 green ss that ran around the N.H. area back in 77-84 - portsmouth and every place in the state! raced at the raceway every week.. the other thing with the anti hops is...the way you install them seems like the big part of the load is on the bolt going through the ear...the bushing that fill the ear does nothing but fill a hole..but they are the engineers not me..

Absolutely use the No Hop bars, if the edelbrocks have an upper and lower hole, by all means use the lower hole in the no-hops. As others have said with the ladder bars, they will bind the suspension.

The No hop bars will relocate the Geometry to cause the tires to be forced into the ground instead of squashing the rear springs.

Take a look at this video I made a few years ago...First Stock suspension (including adjustable uppers) versus no hop bars installed. Notice the Squat on the stock and the Lift on the after clip. The clip repeats twice.

You can see the wasted motion onthe squat clip. My car was running mid to high 11's at the time.
