Anyone ever heard or used this paint system. Have heard good things about it.

JBC90GT Jun 2nd, 06, 6:53 AM I Maybe wrong but I think its an off shoot of Dupont 68protouring454 Jun 2nd, 06, 8:15 AM lol, it is not a shootoff of dupont, whoever told you that was smoking something. they told you that because dupont bought herbert standox out 2-3 yrs ago, along with spies hecker which is all produced in germany on the same grounds.standox is some of the best products you can use, it is up there with sikkens, and other high solids paint, the color match for collision is unreal, they have very few alternates, unlike dupont who has a zillion alternates for most silvers, reds etc, they have no toners and binders in there mixing back, everything is a basecoat, you canpour off any tint and mix it as basecoat, which is 2-1. then there clears are 2-1-10% or so and are very thick, which they are harder to spray as you need to use a viscosity cup sometimes, but i have been using it 4-5 years and n ever have sanded or buffed thru the clear, for collision work i do 1.5 coats and i still can sand the hell out of it and not bother it, everything in there line is top notch and tough to find a better working product when used properly. jake ssal396 Jun 2nd, 06, 9:52 AM I'm sure that 69SSMike will chime in here.. I believe thats the OEM material for the bikes, also. IIRC it was not cheap, but then again, it was a tri-coat. 68protouring454 Jun 2nd, 06, 1:04 PM yes it is not cheap, i use standox everyday also. hs clear is 240.00 for a 5 liter 2.1 hardner is 175.00 for a 2.5 liter 5liter of thinner is 80.00 2.1 primer filler or hs primer filler is 160.00 expensive but it goes along way, i can do a complete muscle car inside in out easily with a 5 liter of clear and have 1 qt or so left over, just did this chevelle with hs clear and have about 1/4 or alittle less left over, this was 2 coats, underhood,under trunk, jambs etc http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/4027/chevellebodypaint0200hw.jpg (http://imageshack.us) http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/5471/chevellebodypaint0311ok.jpg (http://imageshack.us) that is hardblocked with 1000,1500,2000 then buffed jake | ||
