My fuel tank is sandblasted, and ready to be painted. What kind of primer and paint should I use? Thanks in advance!

You have several choices:

For an original look try Eastwood Company. They have a galvanized paint for gas tanks. Gives the original look and adds the rust inhibiting properties of zinc which is impregnated in the paint.

I used por-15 paint in silver to do mine. it is not a completely original look but provides complete rust prevention and contrasts nicely with the semi gloss paint on my undercarriage.

If you had a fair amount of rusting, I'd go with por-15 as it will bond the best to rusted areas (even after sandblasting) If the inside of the tank is rusted you should consider a chemical coating kit available from Bill Hirsh or Eastwood Company.

Good Luck,

I used Eastwood's Tank tone. it doesnt have the exact look of a GM gas tank, but it does look good under the car.
It has the same look as some ford , and Chrysler gas tanks.
