I am replacing the body bushings on my 72 soon, and was planning on doing this just on the frontend for now due to lack of space in my garage. My question is, do the bolts in the rear of the frame, and the ones in the trunkfloor braces need to be removed, or loosened, or is there enough flex in these to lift the front of the body high enough to replace the first 3 on each side? Many thanks in advance, Deejay

You shouldn't have to remove the rears. I actually replace my body bushing 1 side at at time. I do believe I remeber loosening the rears at the same time, but that was after I replaced the fronts on that side. Hope this helps.

I would think you would need to at the very least need to loosen them all, to reduce the stress on the bolts as you jack the front to replace them. They are old & rusty, so getting them out will be alot harder if they break or you break the nutplates.

I broke one on the rear drivers side then the other side broke the plate holding the square bolt head, so I had to drill 2 big holes. One hole I drilled behind the rear bumper on the Pass side it was the very back bushing, used a 15/16's wrench to hold that square bolt and she came out. The other hole I had to drill thru the new trunk floor that had already been put in. Used the 15/16's wrench again and broke the bolt tryin to get it out. I used a hole saw bout 2" diameter so I could just weld the pieces back together. So be careful when you do replace those bushings, its a real pain in the a** if they break. You may be lucky and not live in the "Rust Belt"....
