What type of clearcoat or similiar coating works on the aluminum intakes and valve covers and is resistant to gas, heat etc.

The best thing to do with your aluminium intake is ti bead blast in nice and clean. Do not even bother to clear coat it. All clear coats will eventually "yellow" in appearance. Just keep the natural finish clean with a good glass cleaner ie.,Windex.

I would probably assume the same for the valve covers.

I tried 2 different times to clear my intake. Finally got the advice I'm giving you from an olg guy that worked in an aluminium casting foundry for GM.

OK I can agree with that but I did "read" somehere that there is a coating like clear coat you can use that dont turn yellow.Aside from that,if you polished it up etc, which I have done, what is used to prevent the aluminum surface from water or other liquid splatters that with tarnish it. Is there something on the market besides aluminum polish to protect it.Aluminum by itself with a polished surface will spot or change due to the elements.Thanks....

We had our L78 intake glass beaded 4 years ago and it still looks great. Any gas stain can be removed with engine cleaner, a little 0000 steel wool and a rinse with water. A sand blasted surface leaves a matte finish and is a real dirt and stain magnet.

The clean you are speaking of is made by the same people who make por-15 products. Its called glisten PC www.por15.com, (http://www.por15.com,) I had this same question a week ago and 2 useers said they used it and has not yellowed in 2 + years.
