: What color is this?
onick Dec 12th, 04, 1:55 PM ok, here's the deal. I have a friend that works for a custom paint shop. He is leaving his job in about 2 weeks to go to school. I told him how i wanted to paint my car sometime down the road, then he said he can get me any color i want for FREE!! Only problem is that i want to paint the car the same color it is now...and i don't know the name of the color to give the guy!!! Can anyone here figure this color out? Where could i go for someone to tell me? Any help would be great- Eric

Derek69SS Dec 12th, 04, 1:59 PM Is there any small part that is painted that color that you can take off and take with you to the paint-store? Many paint-stores can color-match it... it might not be exact, but it'll be very close.
It's hard to tell from a picture. My guess is "maroon" ;)
If that's an original '68 Chevelle color it's Cordovan Maroon, code NN.
70convt396 Dec 12th, 04, 9:26 PM A body shop has access to a color-eye which can make a formula for any paint. If they don't have one at the shop they should have a jobber who can lend him one
70isfine Dec 12th, 04, 9:48 PM Thats easy. Its red. BTW sounds like your buddy is planning on stealing the paint from his current employer. Not cool.

Thats how he got the job in the first place, like a son to the owner. What you didn't assume was that i am going to his business for all the body work, thats why he's going to help me out with the paint. sorry for the confusion :D
onick Dec 13th, 04, 1:02 PM I think i figured it out...Claret Red. There is a car for sale on this website that looks VERY similar to any other color i've seen. Looks like i might be leaning towards a black cherry. Anyone have any opinions on that color of paint? Do you need immaculate body work to use it?
sevt_chevelle Dec 13th, 04, 8:41 PM Any color should be treated like black even if its going to be painted white!!

wyatt Dec 16th, 04, 6:33 AM Looks like a deep burgundy. I think '95 cadilacs had it as an option, if I'm not mistaken.
