I was looking at the vinyl top on my El Camino and the vinyl top is pinched underneath the dirp rail molding on both sides. Is this correct or is it supposed to be glued to the roof and end where the rail begins? I'd just like to know so when I go to have a replacement put on, it can be done right.

Also, is there supposed to be a seam on the pillar post? On mine it overlaps but the bottom half overlaps the top so if the water ran off the roof, it would go underneath the bottom half of the vinyl. What's correct?

It depends on who is doing the work I guess. Some people tuck a little under the drip rail molding others don't. The last vinyl top Ihad on my car( had to pull it off because of the rust underneath!), i bent a piece trying to get the molding over the vinyl/drip rail. If I was doing it again, I would make sure the vinyl comes right up to the edge of the railing. That way you don't ruin a $40 piece of aluminum when trying to install it again.

While the above post has some good points, I'd rather have more then less. All of the factory vehicles I've seen have the vinyl material extended behind the actual moldings. The moldings were then "forcefully" installed over them. This was so you didn't get a gap, that would look like **** to see a space where the vinyl ends before it gets to the moldings.
