I'm sorry too. The only thing I hate about having a dog is when they die.

Sorry about your loss, I know how it feels! We had a 14-15 year old Pitbull/Rotweiler mix and despite his heritage, he was the sweetest dog you'll ever see. One day as I was leaving for work, I found him dead in the driveway. He looked as if he was just sleeping there as he usually did so I didn't even notice until I walked up to him to pet him. :(

It sure is sad when a dog passes away, but we are happy he passed away the way he did. He was very healthy, but was old and we knew for a long time that it would soon be time for him to go... no pain, just passed away in his sleep.

Yeah thats what I thought when I got up she was asleep by my bed like always. But when I got up she didnt move, which never happens. When I get up she usually wasnt far behind. So I did like you Olle, stopped to pet her and could tell as soon as I bent over to pet her.Really sucks but like you said she had a long good life....Thanks again for the thoughts...

Yeah, that really sucks. The big problem with pets (to me) is their relatively short lifespans.

I always think of the rainbow bridge poem when I hear stuff like this. Its a little corny, but it actually puts a lump in my throat almost every time I read it.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. Dog are such great companions and their loss can be so painful. She passed in a safe and happy place, be thankful at least for that.

Really sorry to hear that Tony, I feel for you. Be thankful she went so peacefully.

Just lost our 16 year old Husky mix 2 months ago, know how it feels. Long life for a big dog, died at home also. Recently added a new a 1yr old spaniel mix that keeps our 5yr old Lab busy! Hope you find a new addition to help fill the void.

Never easy. A dog's life is way too short, but they bring so much loyalty and joy to those of us that know.

Its never easy no matter how they go. Mine was also 14 and although its been a few months since we had to put her down, it still puts a lump in my throat when I think about Her.

Keep your spirits high and remember the good times... sorry for your loss.:(

So sorry Tony... I have 3 labs, my black one is Sal. He's only 6 now, so hopefully will be here for a long time, but as others have said, it's always too short, no matter how long. They're our kids, and I hate the thought of losing any of them. Hang in there, Im sure you have lots of nice memories. John

Tony...I send my condolenses. It is one of the worst things to go through. The last 3 German Shepards that I had to have put down are still with me. I had them creamated and made special ash holders for them. I like dogs my dogs better than I like most of the people I meet.

Allengator...A new pup would make you feel pretty dang good, I would think.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. Perhaps it can ease your pain knowing she went in her sleep. I share Tony's (TDW above) feelings. I like most dogs more than most people. You know you will never forget but it does get better.

lost one of ours on Christmas eve this last year. the problem with them is you come to love them as much as your kids.

so sorry for your loss. Sounds like she died where she loved to be, next to her best friends.

I'm sorry for your loss Tony. Fourteen years is a long time as far as dogs go, giving you so many years to get attached to her. It is merciful that she went in her sleep, rather than a long drawn out, dwindling sort of end.

My cat is going to turn 17 very soon. We are all very attached to him and he always makes us smile every day. It is going to be hard when his time comes, but I think the best thing is just to make sure every day is filled with love for him. It seems to be working because he is very healthy and happy.

Again, my condolences.

Sorry to hear about your loss. My dog died of lymphoma this past year after having her for 14 years. There are plenty of good support sites and places to donate time or money to in your dog's memory.

Here's a site we used. Click on 'faces of courage' then look for Molly. Her story is in there.

Tony, am so very sorry to hear of your loss.
Like others have said, she went where she wanted to be, next to you.
Our family here at TC love our animals as much as we love our kids.
Heck, my dachshunds are my babies.
Have lost many a dog in my life, but always get another one.
They just flat out make life better, even when they do go and do something stupid like roll in a dead rabbit they found in the neighbors yard....right Chunk?
Take time to grieve, then give a lonely dog at a shelter a home.
Bless you in this time of loss, Tony.
Rachael Anne, Chunk and JoJo
