My car before and after the vinyl top,(before and after) but what about the rally wheels, I know vinyl tops trap moisture but I love the way they look and I live in a desert anyway and we hardly ever ever get rain. Thanks guys.

I don't care for vinly tops. I think I would have put some paint on the car first.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies, yes i did paint the roof before putting the top on. I know a lot of people dont like vinyl tops but like I said it gives a good look I am going to paint it marina/lemans blue, and I do live in the desert so it wont be a problem. Other than the top, do you guys like the rims and the stance it has. Hope to hear from you guys soon.

Hey guys thanks for the comments. I want to get some different wheels in the future but these were a good price and I have always liked rally wheels and dont you guys think they give it a low mixed with nastalgic look. Thanks again guys, by the way this is my first car I have eve done, its a father son project I am doing with my dad. Thanks again.

I'm partial to the vinyl top... my 67 still has the original top on it...i think it really sets the car off...the stance looks great!...what are the suspension mods to get it to sit like that? feel free to PM me with the mods...

all look great - top, wheels, stance. may want to think about another set of rims - depending on how car looks when you paint

I like the top.
The stance is really good.
The wheels were cool 30 years ago... and will still be cool 30 years from now, unlike the "pimp my ride" wheels I've been seeing way too much of lately.
You sir, have good taste.
On the negative side, the limo tint is not so cool, but you live in the desert, so...

Hey guys thank you for the input. The ride height was accomplished by cutting 2 and a half coils off the front from my stock springs, and for the back I bought 3 inch drop springs, the rims in the back are 15x8 with 4.5 inch backspacing and luckily I did not have to trim the wheel wells. Thanks again guys for all the replies.

how does it ride/handle with the cut springs?

It rides and handles very well, it not a slalom car by any means but I drive it every single day to and from school about an hour away. The only problem I run into is the driveshaft rubbing the tunnel when someone is in the back(which is not very often at all) this problem should be taken care of as soon as I get the new shocks in the rear end.

I like the vinyl top. I prefer canvas tops though. You know, the kind that goes up and down :D . The car looks great. I would paint that hood with the flat black primer so it all matches and then work on the interior and other things before going back to the paint. I like the flat black Darth Vader look but that's just me.

the wheels are perfect. i'd suggest getting some smaller 1967 centers or police centers from summit. that will deepen the wheels for more effect.
hands down a chevrolet rally is the best looking factory wheel ever produced.
anything larger than a 15" on this body will shorten the look severely. some of the ones around here driven by the drug dealers with 22" and even up to 28"s are absurd. keep on doing what you are doing. my 66 elky has vintage 14" AR torque thrust and always will usless i get a good deal on some rallys.

I don't think shocks are going to help the driveshaft rub, unless you plan on air shocks. Where is it hitting? My 69 is dropped like yours & I don't see any areas that look like a problem. I know, different year. Just curious.

Hey guys thanks for the input. The reason that I am going paint next is because everything else is done. The interior is complete the enigne and tranny are in and ready to go. I deffinately waited for paint to be the last thing. I have had it primed for about a year and a half now and I am more than ready for some color, even though "primer is finer" I most deffinatley want some paint. That stock hood is on there just for now, you see I got in an accident on my way to school and messed up my fiberglass 4 inch cowl so this own is just a temp. The accident set me back a little but it also gave me a chance to replace things that needed to be replaced but I was just going to live with, but since they got pretty bent up I had to replace them. As far as the shocks go Ithought new ones would help because the ones that are on there are stock and who knows how old, I thought a new pair of stiffer shocks would cut down on how much up and down action I would get going over a big bump on the road with some one in the back. What do you guys think, I would love to go lower in the back but cant, because of the drive shaft. Thanks again guys.

I like the vinyl top on that car too, now mine on the other hand...wouldn't look good with one on it :(

I think they look great with some shine right after the car has been washed. My dads 67 Chevelle used to glisten in the sun "back in the day" and he would put Armor All on his vinyl top and then the tires.

I had a 77 Monte Carlo and I had a vinyl top and I used to AA it everytime I washed the car and never had a problem out of it; car was painted red w/black top by the way. and it had Ralley's on it too.
