I need to remove my rear bumper pad and put it on anther bumper.I read the post about using lacquer thinner and a razor blade,Has anyone heard about heating the back side and peeling the pad off?I was told that this would work but I don't want to ruin my pad.also, what kind of adhesive can I use to glue it on with? thanks
there is a write up on this in the new magazine CHEVELLE put out by super chevy,it is a cool magazine, alot of chevelle write ups.

I was able to get the pad on my 70 off with a handheld propane torch. Heat the back side of the bumper just enough to soften the adhesive and then use a flexible putty knife to carefully work it loose.
I've been told by fellow Team Chevellers that 3M super weahterstrip adhesive works well. You can alos get the adhesive from repo places. Hope this helps.

The best way I have found is to use heat on the back side of the bumper and scrap with a wide putty knife. For replacing to a different bumper use windshield urethane after it dries it's there for life. It's not cheap apox. $20 a tube but it saves driving around trying to find your pad after it falls off!
