hi everyone, i just got done sandblasting my front a-arms. im going to paint them trim black, i love the way this paint looks. my question is should i just paint over the bare metal with the trim black or should i use some kind of primer first? and then paint them. has anyone else in here use the trim black by sema. if so what kind of results did you come out with?

Sorry I'm not familar with trim black. If you want a power coat look use POR 15. You can paint over the sand blast surface. I woud sand it a little smother just for GP.

If you can, put down some Urethane or Epoxy primer on the arms. I know of a few places (Wal-Mart, NAPA, etc.) that sell automotive primer in a can that should work (if you don't have a spray setup, or are time/budget/etc constricted).

If you're not keeping it concours, I'd also consider boxing the lower front arms. The can crack at the ball joint. It's the proverbial weak link in the front end. You can see an example of how to do this at http://www.einstyn.com/einstyn-hardtop-05.htm
