i jsut bought a 72 chevelle, and it needs a little body work. Two main dents that need fixing then the usual dings and scratches of an old car. First, whats the best way to fix these dents? pull of the door panels and push them out then sand and bondo? or what? what methods work for you? Second, what should i do about rust spots, like around the rear winsheild trim and where ever? Any other things that worked well, products, methods...? everyhting helps! thanks

Well, allot depends on the dents size and location as to what you can do to repair it. Rust spots can be treated a number of ways as well. First let me recommend that you do a search in this forum for posts by a member named MARTINSR, he did a great series of posts called "Basics of basics" which covers everything from dents to spray gun setup. There are countless other posts on these subjects too, they will get you started and if there is anything that you aren't clear on just post your questions in here.
Good luck!

Good luck.

Your rust around the window trim could be a lot more extensive than you realize. Chevelles are notorious for rusting out around there. Also pull the trim piece off at the base of the windshield to reveal how bad your cowl is, the one that is about 3 inches wide around the wipers base. Also check at the bottom of the left and right cowl(behind the fenders near the lower door mount) look for extensive rust out here. Leaves and pine needles and everything collects there and held moisture over the years and GM didn't feel it was necessary to treat this bare metal, the outside is painted, but not on the inside. 70-72 Chevelles are famous for rusting out in these 2 areas and also the trunk pan from the rear window leaking.
