: 64-67 power window regulators
Jkastan Aug 18th, 04, 6:36 PM I'm wanting to add a power window set up to my 64 Cutlass, and www.electric-life.com (http://www.electric-life.com) has complete power window set ups for like everything, except 64-65 A-bodies. the guy there swears up & down the 66-67 regulator/motor assemblies with work on the 64.
My question is has any one had the 1rst & 2nd gen A-body regulators off to see how different they might be, & how hard an interchange between the two??
The do make some nice stuff, a buddy of mine did the swap on his 87 T-type and the motors were a lot smaller & faster than those notoriously slow G-body ones.
Any help appreciated graemlins/thumbsup.gif
67shovel Aug 20th, 04, 9:17 AM I think he is right. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the door glass interchanges between 64 and 67. I don't know about the quarter glass's interchanging because of the roof shape. I'd bet the regulators are the same though, esp for the doors. If that was true, then he is right. I guess you call a junk yard and ask if the regulators exchange between 67 & 64 Chevelles.
If so, it will work.
ricks66rag Aug 22nd, 04, 10:35 PM How much did they want for a kit, with the switches and harness?
Jkastan, According to my Hollander interchange manual, the 64-65 chevelle 2Dr hardtops and the 64-65 Olds F85 2Dr hardtops use the same regulators, but they are not the same as the 66-67 chevelle regulators. But, the 4dr 64/65 use the same regulators as the 66-67 4Dr cars. That's not to say that they cannot be made to work, I couldn't answer that. Maybe the Electric-life version is more universal. Hope this helps.

Jkastan Aug 25th, 04, 11:58 PM Hey TW thanks for the info. Not sure I want to buck up for the parts & then find I have do do some major tweeking to get them to work, if at all. I have a complete set up from a donor 64 Cutlass, but I'd prefer the newer, lighter regulators/motors. I email them from time to time, from various different email accounts, requesting set ups for various different 64-65 A-bodies, hoping they'll realize they're missing another chunk of market, to no avail. I can't beleive they list power window setups for seemingly everything else.
TW, nice 66 in progress, that's my own favorite year Chevelle, by far.
ricks66rag, the regulator/motor combinations are $268 a pair, for fronts & the same for the rears. the set of switches & all the wiring harness is another $150. not too bad a deal for all new stuff
Thanks for the compliments on the car. I really need to take some new pictures and add them to the web site. The car is a lot closer to being drivable than the way it looks in the pictures now. I picked up a set of factory power window regulators, motors, and complete wiring for a 66 Skylark off of Ebay for $350. They all work and the wiring will be usable after a couple of repairs. I also bought a set of (4) PW regulators, motors, and wiring off of Ebay for an early 70's Impala for $40. I bought these to keep the motors as spares along with the wiring plugs for the switches.
