: How rough for POR15?

Been cleaning up the frame on an old truck, and have the POR15 ordered. They say the metal needs some roughness to adhere well. I am merely knocking the loose rust off with a wire wheel and some 80 grit sandpaper (handsanded). My question is, how rough must the metal be in order for the POR15 to bond? Thanks for any insight.

Por -15 works best on sandblasted metal or rusted surfaces without any scales. The problem is, it doesn't stick very well to painted surfaces.

Thank you much. As far as the gloves, I think I'll get my younger brother to get at the hard parts http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

You can use it on smooth metal as long as you etch it first with Metal Ready. You can apply it the way you described, but it will look like a rough surface that was painted over. It all depends on how you want it to look afterwards.
