: Installing Seat Belts

I am getting a set of retractable seatbelts from Andover for my 1972 Chevelle (http://www.andoauto.com/Chevelle.htm). What do I need to do to the headliner to install them? Do I just poke a hole over the mounting bracket which feels like it is underneath the headliner and bolt the belts in?

Is there any trick to getting the anchors installed on the bottom on both sides of the bucket seats? Do I have to remove the door sill plate or the console? What else would be helpful to know?

This is one of two big weekend projects that I hope to accomplish (the other is to replace the clock with a Shiftworks Tach).

Thanks,
Anthony

For the record, the Andover seatbelts seem to work great and look good enough. It is a different look than stock, but it is a real retractable shoulder and lap belt. It does make it a little trickier getting into the backseat.

The original shoulder belts were not in my 72 when I got it and a new headliner was installed. The anchor point is under the headliner above the rear window crank. You can feel 3 holes under the headliner. The middle hole feels more like a "U". I made a small slit in the headliner at the front most hole and used a 5/16" 18 thread bolt (1 1/4 inch but shorter may work). It worked perfectly and looks very clean.

I am not sure if the original bolts for the lapbelt were Torx head, but the ones I had in there required a T45 bit to remove and install.

The rear seatbelts were simple. I was fortunate in that all the bolts were still there (no idea what size but they also had T45 heads). Once the rear seat bottom was out, the rear belts (non retractable) bolted right in. I was told the stock length was 60" and that length seemed fine for me and for my son's car seat.
